FASH-SHUN

Happy Tuesday!  All of last week I was on vacation so I had plenty of time to ponder the universe and think about all of the great mysteries of humanity. In honor of that, this issue of Cool Supply is about one truly important aspect of society: fashion! (Bet the title makes a little more sense now.)

I’ve never been super into clothing, but I also don’t like to look like a slob. Actually, I try not to look like anything. Most of what I wear every day is very basic, and that’s intentional. I don’t like to attract more attention to myself than is necessary, so I tend to spend my money on a few things that will go together instead of flashy junk that I’ll need to replace in a few months. These are just some cool pieces that I saw over the last few weeks and I thought were worth highlighting.

The Casio A100WEG-9AVT

One of my favorite watches I’ve ever owned was a “gold” digital Casio watch. It was small with a black face that had Mickey Mouse logos all over it. I wore the crap out of that thing. Unfortunately, I think my dumbass got rid of it when the battery died because I can’t find it anywhere. Multiple trips to Disney World and fruitless searches on eBay have forced me to give up on it. I say all that to say, this new Casio A100WEG-9AVT might be the next best thing.

It’s no Mickey Mouse watch, but it has the same cool retro style and gives me that same fuzzy feeling when I look at it. The colorful buttons also add a nice pop of color against my usual gray/beige/black outfits. The silver one is fine, but the black and gold models are battling it out in my head for which one would look best on my wrist. I’m still not sure if I’m actually going to pull the trigger on either, but the temptation is real.

Low 1 | Charcoal

I’ve written about my love of the Low 1 from Oliver Cabell in a previous issue I’m sure, but it’s back in my mind for one reason. This black colorway is hot. I currently own the standard ones that I splurged on almost three years ago. I spent $170 USD on them and to this day, it was my most expensive sneaker purchase ever. But I love them. I know that real sneakerheads spend a lot more money on kicks, but I’m not a sneakerhead. I wanted a nice, low key pair of sneakers that would last me a few years and these have been my go-to option year round.

Unfortunately, I can see them nearing the end of their lifespan. When I went to go price a new pair I found this charcoal color and sheeeesh. They look so good. When I eventually decide to replace my all-white pair it’s going to be a tough decision as to whether I should re-up on the white or go for the darker gray. Thankfully, I have some time to figure it out. I think I can squeeze another year or two out of my current pair.

U Crew Neck Long Sleeve T-Shirt

I try to only buy clothes that fill a niche in my wardrobe. If I buy a new t-shirt or sweater, it has to replace one that is currently in my closet. This usually a) helps me to not get things I don’t need and b) keeps me from having anxiety when it comes time to move. That said, I bought four new shirts last week.

IN MY DEFENSE, the U Crew Neck Long Sleeve shirt from Uniqlo does fill a void. I don’t have any long sleeve shirts, and while regular t-shirts are fine for summer I know that come fall/winter I’m going to regret not scooping up a few when they were cheap. I try to avoid fast fashion when I can, but it’s hard to avoid Uniqlo. Their stuff is just so affordable and it’s relatively high quality. I’m pretty certain I can squeeze at least three winters out of these shirts. Plus, they come in some pretty dope colors that are perfect for fall. I picked up black, beige, dark green, and brownish. Bring on the pumpkin spice.

I was away from the office last week on vacation so I didn’t get to mess with the OP-Z. But here are two pixel sketches I did a few weeks back of me and my girlfriend Jess. They’re pretty spot on.
