Going DEEEEEEEEP
real deep.
Happy Tuesday! So this past week I haven’t really done anything of interest other than read. Sometimes I come across a book that I can’t stop thinking about. Until I finish it, it’s all I can think about. That was the case with one of my recommendations this week. Then I also have two wildly different YouTube videos that hopefully will make you feel something.
In this issue
📘 A book about diving, exploration, and the people of World War II.
🤿 A dive video in HD! Pretty crazy that I never thought to look this up before.
⚡️ This supercut captures all of the most beautiful Harry Potter scenes
Shadow Divers
Earlier this year a friend recommended that I read a book called Shadow Divers which I finally got around to picking up last week. Initially, I thought that it was a fiction mystery novel about a group of divers, but a few chapters into the book I recognized a few names of people that I know to be real.

Turns out the entire book is a true story, which makes it even more sad/exhilarating to read. Knowing that you’re reading about a real situation that someone faced really got my heart pumping. If you’re into adventure novels at all this was a page-turner.
Diving the U-853
In the middle of reading Shadow Divers I wondered if there was any video online for any of these wrecks that were mentioned. Turn out there are a lot. Plenty of divers have been recording dives for years and it only just occurred to me to look this up.
My favorite that I’ve found is this one about the U-853 which is off of Block Island, Rhode Island. But really, if you look on a map it could just as easily be off the coast of Long Island. It’s surreal to imagine what diving these wrecks must be like, but it’s dope as hell to actually see them.
The beauty of Harry Potter
On a different note, I randomly found this YouTube video that I love. It takes a lot of the most beautiful shots from the Harry Potter series (which I’m obsessed with) and plays them back-to-back in a way that really highlights the gorgeous cinematography.
On top of that, the clips are laid out over what is arguably the most touching piece in all of the movies: Dumbledore’s Farewell. This channel does this with a number of different shows, movies, and genres so I’ll probably binge a few more if I’m being honest with myself.
