Goodbye Summer
👋 Good riddance 👋

Happy Friday! This week was a busy one. Monday and Tuesday I drove to Niagara Falls and back for work, then Wednesday/Thursday are my supercrazywildbusy days at work (not to mention NYC got flooded and I got locked out of my apartment), and I woke up today like, “Oh sh*t, it’s already Friday!”
Anyway, it’s a perfect fall day and I’m all about 🎃 pumpkin-spiced 🎃 vibes. So here’s some things to help get you in the autumn mood. If you don’t have fall where you live, at least enjoy the rest of your summer/winter with some cool tones.

Tome of the Unknown
Over the Garden Wall is one of the greatest animations to air on Cartoon Network and I don’t think I’m exaggerating. The mini-series aired in 2014 and follows two brothers on their journey through the Unknown, a mysterious dark-fantasy land. Even if it isn’t your thing, the original show won all kinds of awards and I highly recommend watching just for the great writing, moody colors, and clever plot.
The show only has 10 relatively short episodes and is an easy watch, but a good primer is this pilot episode which isn’t technically part of the show, but still good. You really get a feel for the characters and art style, as well as the heavy folk-music influence that’s featured throughout the series.
Fleet Foxes Tiny Desk Concert
Fleet Foxes is a band that I can only listen to at certain times of the year. I’m not sure if it’s intentional and maybe it’s his voice, but this guy crooning just makes me want to cuddle up with a hot coffee under a blanket in a fuzzy hoodie. He’s a cozy dude.
This video is of his Tiny Desk Concert which looks to be in a church or something? I can’t tell. But it’s the first time I’ve heard these songs played acoustically and I love them. Give it a listen.
2021 Foliage Map
This summer has been a really good one, but I’m ready for it to leave us. Even though the map below looks like a heat map, it isn’t. It’s an interactive fall foliage predictions map for 2021, and I can’t believe I’ve never seen this before.

All you need to do is drag the slider through the dates available and it will update to tell you where the best foliage is predicted to be. You can bet your ass this is the tool I’m using to plan my next few weekends. Enjoy!

I’m already copping out of something that I said I’d do. I have to stop doing the OP-Z beats since I don’t actually own it, and rarely get to just play with it at work. BUT that said, here’s a pixel sword! It was one of my first experiments and I still like it. And now I’m all out of back-logged pixel art so I have to get back to it. This newsletter is keeping me accountable! lol
