EDC-Worthy Gear and Sci-Fi!

Plus, I have a question at the bottom.

EDC-Worthy Gear and Sci-Fi!

August is upon us! This means that September is almost here, which means it’s almost OCTOBER! Muahaha. Sorry, I’m just so over this heat. Bring me fall! I want the leaves to change so I can throw on my favorite hoodie and pour pumpkin spice on fucking everything.

🔦 RovyVon Aurora A3 G4

RovyVon Aurora A3 G4 USB-C keychain flashlight

So if you happened to catch my section of the latest Studio EDC video, you saw that the flashlight I’ve been carrying around with me lately has been a transparent one from a company called RovyVon. I love the little thing and it more than gets the job done for my everyday needs, but tbh I like shiny new things (literally). The company recently released some marble white versions of its popular flashlights and I’ve been drooling at the mouth. The Aurora A3 G4 pictured above just looks so clean in white mode which is something I never thought I’d say. Plus, it charges via USB-C which is just *chefs kiss* perfect.

📝 Traveler’s Company

I’m in the middle of trying to summarize my thoughts on note-taking apps and note taking in general, which means I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos about how people take notes. One method that caught my eye was from a company called Traveler’s Company which makes leather journal covers. Nothing special at first glance, but what sets it apart is that you can fill it with all kinds of inserts and refills ranging from special edition yearly calendar notebooks to regular blank pages. I’m a sucker for a good note-taking system and this passport one really grabbed my attention. To the point where I made my own DIY version with two cheap pocket notebooks from Muji and an old Bellroy Passport wallet I had lying around 😅.

📖 To Sleep in a Sea of Stars

The book I’m currently obsessed with.

If you’re into fantasy and sci-fi, I highly recommend checking out this book called To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini. It’s about a woman named Kira who makes first contact with an intelligent alien species and it has me stressed in the best way possible. As someone that hasn’t really read any sci-fi and has been on year-long hiatus from fantasy in general, this book is hitting all the right spots. It offers a vision of the future where the controversial technology topics of today (think Neuralink and interplanetary colonization) are just mundane facts of life for the average person in the future. And I have to say, it’s pretty damn compelling. Definitely check it out if you can.

🏠Housekeeping

So this newsletter has been a thorn in my side/one of the things I’ve been most passionate about since I started it almost two years ago. And a part of me is really wondering if it would make sense to do this as a weekly or maybe bi-weekly newsletter instead of once a month. Or maybe the stuff I find is better left alone as a monthly thing? I’m not sure so I figured I’d ask you.
